The Gamma Theta Lambda Education Foundation, Inc. (the “Foundation”) is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation, established February 11, 2000 by the Gamma Theta Lambda Chapter (Wilmington, DE) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
The Foundation is organized as a separate and independent entity and is operated exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes within the meaning of 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Since its inception, the Foundation has:
Provided more than $185,000 in financial assistance to graduating high school students.
Sponsored and seminars on leadership training and development.
Developed mentoring programs for young men between 13 and 18 years old.
Promoted voter education/registration and participation in the electoral process.
Promoted civic engagement and political awareness and empowerment.
Educated teenagers on the consequences of unplanned/teen pregnancies; and provided information regarding STDs, and HIV Aids. Abstinence is promoted as a viable option.
The Foundation is funded through sponsorship of various fundraising activities, and direct contributions from corporations, foundations, legacy societies, and friends in the community.
